'29 lessons' means 29 documents. There are only 13 vidoes to watch, ranging in length from about 5 to 15 minutes each.
This training provides a step by step guide to setting up Concept Cat in your Nursery (3 to 4 years) or Reception (4 to 5 years) classroom.
It is for staff members who will be planning and leading on delivery in the classroom.
Allow 3 hours (including a break).
There is a shorter training for all staff that is available as part of this bundle.
We recommend a minimum of two staff per setting attend this training and that all staff attend the 'all staff' training.
Both courses are offered together in a flexible 'bundle' that can be viewed for up to a year.
The Concept Cat book is required. Ideally the Word Aware Concept Assessment also. Both are available from Routledge.

Evidence based, time efficient and fun
Conceptual vocabulary shapes children’s thinking in the Early Years and forms the foundation for later mathematical and scientific learning. However, these words are abstract and often tricky to learn – and to teach.
Concept Cat is a tried-and-tested, evidence-based approach that supports all young children’s learning of conceptual vocabulary. Vocabulary is taught in a structured and engaging manner with explicit teaching of vocabulary followed by implicit teaching in play-based learning.
First developed in 2016, Concept Cat has been used in many settings across the world, applied to a range of curricula. The approach has been refined over this time and was the subject of a large research study by the Educational Endowment Foundation. As well as achieving positive results this study showed that Concept Cat could work in a full range of Eraly Years settings from small independent nurseries right through to large Nursery schools.
